FORMER OLYMPIAN AND CALIFORNIA HALL OF FAMER DAVE MAGGARD ASSUMES POSITION OF PRESIDENT AT TARTAN® TRACKS.

CORONA, CA, July 22/PR Newswire/- TARTAN® Tracks manufacturer of the Original Polyurethane Athletic Surface, today announced the appointment of Dave Maggard, one of the most respected leaders in intercollegiate athletics, to the position of President.

Maggard served for more than seven years as Athletic Director at the University of Houston, taking the Cougars to four bowls in the last five seasons, four basketball tournaments, and winning over 20 Conference USA Championships.

While Director of Athletics at the University of Miami from 1991-93 the Hurricanes were National Football Champions. Maggard arrived at Miami after serving 19 years as Athletic Director at his alma mater, the University of California-Berkeley. The Bears won 22 National Championships in six sports.

Maggard’s experience includes serving on the NCAA Academic Eligibility/Compliance Cabinet and the Chair of the Committee on Agents and Amateurism and served on more than 20 NCAA governing bodies.

In 1993 Maggard was named as Managing Director of Sports for the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic games, managing over 600 employees and 8000 volunteers. A former Olympian himself, Maggard earned a letter in football and three letters in track and field at Cal.

Maggard is a recipient of the Olympic Order from the International Olympic Committee and the Carl Maddox Sports Management Award from the U.S. Sports Academy. Inducted into California.s Hall of Fame in 1996, he received the General Robert Reese Nyeland Athletic Director Lifetime Achievement Award in 1997.
